DESCRIPTION:
Vermont area, Mahogany Girandole with crotch mahogany throat and door panels, 8-day, weight, time, possibly by J. N. Dunning, C. 1830, and with restorations.
CONDITION:
the entire case has been stripped and refinished, and the back board sanded front and rear, taking away fly specs and patina that some owners cherish. The lower door panel and the top-most carving are recent. Bottom carving, side arms and bezels appear to be period. Has a good period movement that is original to the case, attaching center rear with single screw. Runs. Skinners recently sold a Dunning wooden front girandole for over $50,000. Our estimate allows for the restorations our clock has received. Ht 46"
